The proposal was for an extension and alterations to the existing dwelling including raising the roof, formation of a balcony, terrace along with access and parking improvements.
Planning Voice prepared an objection in relation to a planning application for St Andrews, Wheal Leisure, Perranporth, Cornwall, referencing application number PA24/03657. The proposal involved extensive alterations to the existing dwelling, including raising the roof and forming a balcony terrace, along with improvements to access and parking.
Main Issues
A detailed and comprehensive planning objection was prepared by Planning Voice. The objection highlighted several critical concerns regarding residential amenity and character and design. The proposed balcony and first-floor doors would introduce significant overlooking, leading to a loss of privacy for neighboring properties and increased noise disturbance. The increase in height and vertical walls from the proposed design would overshadow and impose on adjacent properties, exacerbating the feeling of enclosure and reducing available natural light. The design was deemed out of character with the surrounding low-density, bungalow-style properties, disrupting the visual coherence and aesthetic quality of the area. Additionally, the proposed development was considered overbearing and inconsistent with the neighborhood’s character, leading to a detrimental impact on residential amenity and overall street scene.
Outcome
Withdrawn Application: Following the submission of our detailed planning objection the application was withdrawn!
